JLTP Consultation

——-sent 16 August 2010——-

Dear all

Further to my e mail last week please find attached details on the forthcoming GWE Business West Initiative Transport meeting at Leigh Court on 20th September.

The West of England Partnership is developing the third Joint Local Transport Plan to cover the Bristol, B&NES, North Somerset and South Glos areas. This Plan will set out a strategy for transport over the next 15 years across the West of England . An efficient, reliable transport system is vital for the economic success and the West of England Partnership are keen to hear from businesses about our views and concerns.

To become more informed about this important consultation and to have a say in shaping transport in Bristol for the next 15 years, GWE Business West would like to invite you to a presentation and discussion on Monday 20th September at 2:00pm at Leigh Court. Barbara Davies, Head of the Joint Transport Team; James White, Transport Policy Group Leader and Julia Dean, Communications Officer will provide an introduction to the Plan, answer questions and listen to what you have to say about priorities. Following the consultation, GWE will write up comments from delegates and submit their response prior to the consultation close on 4th October 2010.

Please find attached a copy of the Executive Summary of the Joint Local Transport Plan, for your information. We would like to encourage you to take part in a quick questionnaire formed by the West of England Partnership, which asks for your views on the goals of the strategy and what you want to prioritise limited funding on. Please go to www.transportmatters.org to complete the questionnaire.

If you would like to attend, please email Amy Cryer (amy.cryer@gwebusinesswest.co.uk) or call 01275 370 790 to confirm your attendance by 10th September 2010.

Kind regards

 Emma

Further to our first mini-debate in July please find attached a briefing paper on the JLTP 3, which has been prepared by Robert Freshwater, a recent new member, in his capacity at GWE Business West.

As discussed at the debate the aim of JLTP 3 is to bring together the four unitary authorities of Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol City, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire in order to deliver a transport strategy for the sub-region over the period 2011-2026.

The emerging plan is open for consultation until 4th October 2010 and it is the intention the BJC will provide input as the voice of young leaders in the City.  To this end I also attach a brief set of bullet points setting out a business view from GWE Business West.

In addition members have been invited to attend a GWE Business West Initiative Transport meeting at Leigh Court on 20th September when Barbara Davis, Head of Transport at the West of England Partnership, will be on hand alongside others to provide discussion on the Plan.  Further details and an invitation from GWE Business West will follow within the next week.

The intention of the above is for members to become more informed about this important consultation and for you to have a say in shaping transport in Bristol for the next 20 years.  Following the meeting at Leigh Court on 20th September we will be preparing a response, which will be circulated to the membership for comment.  In the meantime, if you have any queries or would like to contribute any views in relation to the above or attached then please contact either myself or the following members:
